Abby
2004 - 2018
February 22, 2004-January 5, 2018
My beautiful Abby Marie Doodleton Baer.
Butterscotch, B Scotch, Arugula and Dood. Just a few of the names we had for you. I think there were hundreds!!
You were gentle, loving and ALWAYS ready to soak up any love and attention
to whoever who was offering it, my little love bug. You could even be quite
pushy about it, but you LOVED love. Your enthusiasm and love of life was
contagious.
I never did seem to learn that I couldn’t leave a plastic bag out (whether it
had food in it or not), because if I did I had enabled you and whatever was
inside had been chewed! Most recently a bag of English Muffins. I’m glad I
had the opportunity to give you one on your last day!
The cottage and dog parks were your favourite places but I think you loved
your own backyard the most! Lying in the snow even on the coldest days
brought you much joy! I’ll never forget playing Doodlympics with you and our
snuggles.
You were my constant companion, ‘my shadow’ as you were affectionately
known by Nana. Even in those last few days when it was difficult to get up, you
still did. I hated watching you struggle, it broke my heart, but being
close to me was too important to you, my loyal girl.
I’ve had many pets but you were my first dog and I’m honoured that you had
that title and I am so blessed that our paths crossed.
You saw me through some of life’s major milestones and many ups and downs
and I’m so happy to have had you at my side. You saw me through my highest
highs and my lowest lows and you loved me unconditionally.
Our house is so empty without you, and I long to pet you and snuggle with
you again.
This isn’t goodbye, it’s I’ll see you later. I know one day you will greet
me with the most enthusiastic Abby greeting, that it will knock me over and
it will be legendary!!
Run free my beautiful doodle girl. Chase all the balls you can, especially
the squeaky ones!!
Say hi to Cinnamon Bun, Truffles, Rupert, Winston, Mogley and Chloe.
Love you forever and miss you always.
