Mia & Lexie
2007 - 2018
Lexie & Mia, you two sisters lived a happy life & were spoiled rotten by our parents. Gentle, sweet, perfect, obedient little Lexie - You could play fetch all day long and followed Daddy around like a shadow. I’ll miss your “permanent puppy” personality, kisses and snuggles. Mia, you always had an extra special place in my heart even though you were sassy, stubborn, and certainly the alpha. I will always remember your “monkey face” (scrunched up teeth smile) when I would come home, or being nicknamed “armadillo” because you were so fat that you looked like a foot rest lol. You two were there for happy milestones, like the birth of my two sons, as well as sad milestones, like the passing of our Mommy’s mother. You were always there to snuggle and, well, just be there to let us know that we were never alone. When we can’t come up with the words to capture how much we love and miss you two, we’ll think back to some of our favourite memories...
Me: What are you cooking on the stove, mom?
Italian Mom: Scrambled Eggs
Me: Nice, may I please have some?
Italian Mom: Sorry, It’s for the dogs - I heard that eggs are good for their coat.
(Keep in mind my mother was always complaining about the dogs, but was the first one to spoil them rotten - including cooking just for them or buying them actual T-bone steaks lol)
Me: You bought a new bed?
Parents: Yes, a daybed.
Me: Why?
Parents: So the dogs don’t have to sleep on the floor.
Passing: You two had a beautiful life together, so it was fitting that you passed peacefully beside one another, nose to nose, in our Mommy’s lap. Mommy will never forget how Mia, realizing that Lexie was asleep and still, crawled over to her, licked her eyes and nose one last time as a final goodbye, and fell asleep forever, lovingly head to head with her little sister. We love you.
