Gilmour

2004 - 2014

From the moment we laid eyes on Gilmour, we knew he was ours. A skinny white cat with too-big ears, our friends would remark that he looked more like a lab rat than a kitten. He was bouncy and klutzy, a fuzzy little wrecking ball who took over our home (and our hearts).

That goofy kitten grew into an even goofier cat, one who would follow us from room to room, chatting with us as we went. When one of us was sick or injured, he stayed by our side (he was an excellent napping partner). He patiently sat as we posed together for Christmas photos, and even tolerated his Halloween costumes. And while his ears were still a little too big, he turned out to be a handsome beast who won over even our most skeptical friends.

When Gil became very ill, very fast, we were shocked and devastated. Only then did we learn that our boy had the FeLV virus, transmitted to him by his mother at birth. Most FeLV-positive kittens live only a few years. We had 10 awesome, laughter-filled years with our guy, and are so thankful for every minute we had with him.

Gilly - thanks for being so sweet, so loving, so hilarious. Thanks for braving illnesses that we thought were no biggie, but which threatened to take you from us even earlier. Thanks especially for getting our attention on that perfect day so many years ago when you caught our eyes as we walked past your cage. We will never forget you, we will always miss you, we will love you forever.
